Advertising Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

This Advertising Policy explains how UAE Explained is funded, which kinds of advertising and commercial links can appear on uaeexplained.com, and the rules we follow to keep advertising separate from our guides. It sits alongside our Editorial Policy, Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.

1. How UAE Explained Is Funded

Every guide on UAE Explained is free to read. There is no subscription, no paywall and no charge for any calculator or checklist. The site is funded by display advertising and, on some pages, by affiliate links. We receive no funding from the UAE government or any official authority, and no authority reviews or approves what we publish.

2. Display Advertising

UAE Explained shows display advertising through Google AdSense. The ads are selected and served automatically by Google, based on the content of the page and, where you have allowed it, on cookies and similar technologies. We do not choose the individual ads you see, and an ad appearing on a page is not an endorsement of the advertiser, its product or its claims.

Ads can appear between sections of an article, below the content and in other standard positions. We place them so that they do not interrupt step-by-step instructions, fee tables or calculators in a way that makes the guide harder to follow.

3. Keeping Ads Separate From Our Content

You should always be able to tell an ad from our own content. To make sure of that:

  • Ads are shown in Google’s own ad formats and are labelled as advertising.
  • We never design our own content to look like an ad, and we never allow an ad to be presented as part of a guide.
  • Nothing on the site is styled to look like an official notice, a government portal or a payment page.
  • Official links in our guides always point to the authority’s own website, never to an advertiser.

UAE government services such as visa status checks, Emirates ID renewals and traffic fine payments are only ever completed on the official portal or app. If an ad on our site claims to offer one of these services, asks for your Emirates ID, passport or card details, or looks like an official UAE authority, do not use it and please report it to us.

4. Affiliate Links

Some pages may include affiliate links. If you click one and then buy a product or sign up for a service, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links help keep the site free.

  • We only link to products or services that we consider genuinely useful to UAE residents.
  • An affiliate relationship never changes the facts, fees or eligibility rules we report.
  • Where a page contains affiliate links, we disclose it on that page.
  • Affiliate and paid links are marked with the appropriate link attributes, so they pass no ranking credit to the advertiser.

5. Sponsored Content

We do not currently publish sponsored articles. If we ever publish paid content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the page, it will follow the same accuracy standards as the rest of the site, and it will never be presented as an official guide. Guides that explain government services, such as visas, Emirates ID, labour rules, fines and fees, are never sponsored.

6. What We Will Not Promote

Whatever the commercial offer, we will not knowingly promote or accept advertising for:

  • Gambling, adult content, weapons or illegal drugs.
  • Agents or “fixers” who claim they can clear fines, travel bans, absconding cases or labour bans for a fee outside the official process.
  • Unlicensed financial products, unregulated lenders or schemes that promise guaranteed returns.
  • Anything that is illegal under UAE law or that targets readers based on nationality, religion, gender or disability.

Google’s advertising policies already prohibit many of these categories. If an ad that breaks these rules appears on our pages, we will use the controls Google provides to block it.

7. Cookies and Personalised Advertising

Google and its partners use cookies to show ads and to measure how they perform. Depending on your settings and where you are, the ads you see may be personalised based on your browsing. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. You can manage personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings. Our Privacy Policy explains the cookies used on this site in full.

8. Advertising and Partnership Enquiries

If you would like to discuss advertising or a content partnership, use our Contact page and choose “Advertising or partnership enquiry”, or email romanshah047@gmail.com. We only consider partnerships that are relevant to UAE residents, lawful in the UAE and consistent with this policy. We do not sell links that pass ranking credit, and we do not accept payment to change what a guide says.

9. Reporting a Problem With an Ad

If you see an ad on UAE Explained that looks misleading, offensive or like an imitation of an official UAE authority, please email romanshah047@gmail.com with the page address, a short description and, if you can, a screenshot. We review every report and act on ads that break this policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Advertising Policy as the way the site is funded changes. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
