RTA Fine Check: How to Check and Pay Dubai Traffic Fines?
An RTA fine check is free, and you can do it by plate number, licence, or Emirates ID. Use the RTA website, the RTA Dubai app, or the Unified Mobility System at ums.rta.ae. Paying within 60 days usually keeps a 35% early-payment discount, so it pays to check your fines often.
- Open the RTA Dubai app or ums.rta.ae.
- Search by plate number or Emirates ID.
- Pay within 60 days to keep the early-payment discount.
Where to check RTA fines Dubai?
There is more than one official place to check a Dubai fine, and knowing the difference saves confusion. The RTA channels cover traffic and Salik fines. The Unified Mobility System pulls fines from several sources into one search. All of them are free.
| Portal | What it covers | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| RTA website or RTA Dubai app | Dubai traffic and Salik fines | Plate number, licence, or Emirates ID |
| Unified Mobility System (ums.rta.ae) | Fines across multiple sources | Plate number or Emirates ID |
| Dubai Police app or website | Traffic and other Dubai Police fines | Emirates ID or traffic file number |
For a fine issued in another emirate, use that emirate’s own police portal instead. Our guides to the Abu Dhabi police fine check and the Sharjah traffic fine check cover those.
How to check and pay your RTA Dubai fine?
The steps are the same across the online channels. You choose how you want to search, enter that detail, and the system lists any outstanding fines.
- Open the RTA website, the RTA Dubai app, or ums.rta.ae.
- Choose your search type: plate number, licence number, traffic file, or Emirates ID.
- Enter the detail, complete the security check, and search.
- Review the fines, then pay by debit or credit card, or through the Nol Pay app.
If you would rather not go online, an RTA Smart Kiosk does the same job. Choose the traffic fines option on the touch screen, enter your vehicle or licence details, and pay by card on the spot. Whichever route you use, checking is always free and you only pay the fine itself.
The early-payment discount
This is where checking often actually saves you money. For most fines, paying within 60 days keeps an early-payment discount of around 35%. Leave it longer and that reduction typically drops to about 25%. The discounted amount shows automatically before you pay, so you do not need a code or a special step.
Two important limits apply. First, severe violations, such as driving under the influence or reckless driving, are usually excluded from any discount. Second, a discount only reduces the fine amount. It does not remove the black points attached to the violation, which stay on your record separately. See our guide to checking your black points for how those work.
Larger reductions of up to 50% do appear from time to time, during seasonal campaigns around Ramadan, Eid, and National Day. These are covered in our guide to Dubai traffic fine discount schemes. As of 2026, there is no permanent automatic discount running, so the early-payment window is your reliable saving.
Avoid fake discount offers
RTA and Dubai Police have publicly warned residents about false discount offers spreading on social media and WhatsApp. A genuine discount is always announced through official channels, and it appears automatically on the official portal when you go to pay.
So treat any message promising a special fine discount through a link or a private contact as a scam. Never enter your card details on a site you reached from such a message. Pay only through the RTA website, the RTA Dubai app, the Dubai Police app, or an RTA kiosk. The wider set of traffic and vehicle guides sits in our UAE traffic, vehicle and fines guide.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check my RTA fines by plate number?
Open the RTA website, the RTA Dubai app, or the Unified Mobility System at ums.rta.ae. Choose plate number as your search type, enter your plate details, complete the security check, and search. Your outstanding fines appear on screen, and the check is free. You can pay straight away by card if you wish.
Is there a discount for paying RTA fines early?
Yes. For most fines, paying within 60 days keeps an early-payment discount of around 35%, which drops to about 25% afterwards. The reduced amount shows automatically at payment. Severe violations like reckless driving are usually excluded, and the discount reduces the fine but does not remove black points.
Is it free to check RTA fines?
Yes, checking your fines on the official RTA website, RTA Dubai app, Unified Mobility System, or Dubai Police app is completely free. You only pay the fine amount itself. Be wary of any third-party site that charges a fee just to check your fines, and stick to the official channels.
Do RTA fine discounts remove black points?
No. A discount only reduces the money you pay. Any black points attached to the violation remain on your record separately, whether you paid the full fine or a discounted amount. Black points clear on their own timeline, or through an approved course, not by paying the fine.
