This Corrections and Fact-Checking Policy explains how UAE Explained checks facts before a guide is published, how we keep guides current, and how we correct mistakes once they are found. It expands on the corrections section of our Editorial Policy.
1. Our Commitment to Accuracy
Our guides cover visas, fines, labour rules, bills and banking, the kind of information that affects people’s money, legal status and plans. A wrong fee or an outdated deadline can cost a reader real money. We would always rather find and fix a mistake than leave it in place, and we correct errors openly rather than quietly.
2. How We Check Facts Before Publishing
Every guide goes through the same checks before it goes live:
- Official source first. Each fee, rule, deadline and process is traced to the authority that sets it, such as ICP, GDRFA, MOHRE, the RTA, DEWA, the Federal Tax Authority or the Central Bank of the UAE. Blogs and forums can suggest a question, but never supply the answer.
- Two sources for data that changes. Fees, fines, timetables and other fast-moving figures are confirmed against at least two independent official or first-hand sources.
- Figures checked line by line. Every AED amount, date, deadline, phone number, SMS or USSD code and portal address is checked against the source at the time of writing.
- Links tested. Links to official portals are opened and checked to make sure they lead to the right page.
- No guessing. If a detail cannot be confirmed to our standard, the guide says so instead of presenting an estimate as a fact.
3. What the “Last Verified” Date Means
Most guides show a “Last verified” date. It records when a person last checked the facts on that page against the current official position. It is not the date the page was first written, and we only change it after a genuine re-check.
4. How We Keep Guides Current
- Monthly: pages covering fees, fines, status checks, timetables and other figures that change often.
- Quarterly: explainers where the underlying rules are more stable.
- Immediately: any page affected by a new official announcement, as soon as we become aware of it.
5. How We Correct Mistakes
Minor corrections
Spelling mistakes, broken links and formatting problems are fixed as soon as we find them, without a correction note.
Factual corrections
If a guide contained a wrong fee, deadline, eligibility rule or step, we correct the page, refresh its “Last verified” date and, where the change matters to readers, add a short note explaining what was corrected and when.
Rule changes
When a guide changes because an authority changed the rules, rather than because we made a mistake, we update it as soon as possible and state the date the new rule took effect.
Serious errors
If an error could have led a reader to pay a fine, miss a deadline or make a costly decision, we correct it as a priority and explain the correction clearly on the page.
6. How to Report an Error
If you spot something that is wrong, out of date or unclear, email romanshah047@gmail.com or use our Contact page. To help us act quickly, please include:
- The address of the page.
- What you think is wrong.
- A link to the official source that shows the correct information, if you have one.
We aim to acknowledge correction reports within two to three working days. We check every report against the official source and tell you what we found and what we changed.
7. What We Will Not Change
We do not remove or soften accurate information because a business, advertiser or individual asks us to, and no commercial relationship affects how a correction is handled. Our Advertising Policy explains how advertising is kept separate from our guides.
8. Limitations
UAE Explained is an independent website, not a government authority. Even with careful checks, rules can change before we are able to update a page. Always confirm current requirements with the relevant official authority before you act. Our Disclaimer explains these limits in full.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our processes improve. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
