Dubai to Ajman Bus Timings: E400 and E411
Two RTA routes link Dubai and Ajman: the E400 from Union Square and the E411 from Etisalat, both ending at Al Musallah Bus Station in Ajman. The fare is AED 15 each way by Nol card. The E400 runs about every 20 minutes and takes just under 90 minutes, while the hourly E411 is quicker at a little over 50 minutes.
- Take the E411 if speed matters, the E400 if frequency does.
- Load at least AED 15 each way onto a Nol card.
- For a late return from Ajman, the E400 runs past midnight.
The Dubai to Ajman bus at a glance
Ajman sits just beyond Sharjah, which makes this journey shorter in distance than the Abu Dhabi run but often slower than the map suggests, because the route passes through the congested Dubai to Sharjah corridor on the way.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Routes | E400 and E411 |
| Ajman terminal | Al Musallah Bus Station |
| Fare | AED 15 each way |
| Payment | Nol card only |
| Journey time | About 50 minutes on the E411, up to 90 on the E400 |
| Frequency | Every 20 minutes on the E400, hourly on the E411 |
There is a genuine trade-off between the two routes here, and it is not the usual one. The faster bus is the less frequent bus, so the better choice depends on whether you are working to a deadline or simply turning up at the station.
The two routes compared
Both routes finish at the same Ajman terminal, so the difference is entirely at the Dubai end and in how they get there.
| Route | Dubai end | Journey time | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| E400 | Union Square Bus Station | Just under 90 minutes | About every 20 minutes |
| E411 | Etisalat Bus Station | A little over 50 minutes | About every 60 minutes |
The reason for the gap is geography. Etisalat sits at the northern end of the Green Line, already well out of central Dubai and considerably closer to Ajman, so the E411 has far less city traffic to fight through. The E400 starts deep in Deira at Union and absorbs the whole corridor.
If you are already on the metro, riding the Green Line out to Etisalat and picking up the E411 can be faster overall than boarding the E400 at Union, even allowing for the wait. The catch is that the E411 only runs hourly, so a missed bus wipes out the saving.
Dubai to Ajman bus timings
Heading north out of Dubai, the E400 starts very early and runs until late evening, while the E411 keeps shorter hours.
| Route | From | First bus | Last bus |
|---|---|---|---|
| E400 | Union Square | About 04:25 | About 23:30 |
| E411 | Etisalat | About 06:00 | About 22:08 |
The E400 gives you a service window well over 19 hours long, which covers almost any shift pattern. The E411 is really a daytime service, starting more than 90 minutes later and finishing well before the E400.
Ajman to Dubai bus timings
The return journey is where the two routes differ most, and the E400 in particular behaves differently coming back.
| Route | From | First bus | Last bus |
|---|---|---|---|
| E400 | Al Musallah, Ajman | About 05:16 | About 00:24 |
| E411 | Al Musallah, Ajman | About 06:00 | About 22:09 |
Two things stand out. First, the E400 runs nearly an hour later out of Ajman than it does out of Dubai, finishing after midnight rather than at half past eleven, which makes it the reliable option for a late trip home. Second, its first bus from Ajman is around 50 minutes later than the first from Dubai, so very early starts north to south are better served from the Dubai end.
The E411 is close to symmetrical, running roughly 06:00 to just after 22:00 in both directions, which makes it easy to plan a same-day return around.
RTA publishes operating hours rather than a fixed departure list for intercity routes, so treat these as indicative and check the S’hail app on the day, particularly if you are relying on the last bus.
Fare and payment
The fare is the same on both routes and in both directions, and it sits between the Sharjah and Abu Dhabi fares.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Single journey | AED 15, either direction |
| Return | AED 30 in total |
| Accepted payment | Nol card only |
| Not accepted | Cash and bank cards on board |
| Where to top up | Any Dubai metro or bus station |
For comparison, Dubai to Sharjah is AED 12 and Dubai to Abu Dhabi is AED 25, so Ajman sits in the middle. Top up before you travel, since you cannot buy a ticket from the driver. The wider fare picture is in our UAE bus timings guide.
Which route to choose?
The decision comes down to where you start and how tightly you are working to the clock.
- Starting in Deira or old Dubai, take the E400 from Union.
- Already on the Green Line, ride to Etisalat and take the faster E411 if the timing suits.
- Travelling very early or very late, use the E400, which has the longer service window.
- Turning up without checking times, the E400 is safer at every 20 minutes.
Because the route passes through Sharjah, the same peak-hour congestion that slows the Dubai to Sharjah corridor also affects this journey. The evening peak between 17:00 and 20:00 is the worst of it, and travelling either side of that window is the single biggest time saver available to you.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the bus from Dubai to Ajman?
The fare is AED 15 for a single journey in either direction, on both the E400 and the E411. A return costs AED 30 in total. Payment is by Nol card only, so top up before boarding as cash is not accepted.
What is the last bus from Ajman to Dubai?
The E400 from Al Musallah runs latest, at around 00:24, which is nearly an hour later than the last E400 leaving Dubai. The E411 finishes much earlier at about 22:09, so plan on the E400 for any late return.
How long does the Dubai to Ajman bus take?
The E411 from Etisalat takes a little over 50 minutes, while the E400 from Union Square takes just under 90 minutes. The difference is because Etisalat is already north of central Dubai, so the E411 avoids much of the city traffic.
Which bus station in Ajman do the buses use?
Both the E400 and E411 use Al Musallah Bus Station in Ajman, in either direction. That makes the return trip straightforward, as you catch whichever of the two routes suits your Dubai destination from the same terminal.
