Dubai Metro Green Line: All 20 Stations and Route
The Green Line runs 22.5 kilometres through the older heart of Dubai, from e& station in Al Qusais to Creek in Al Jaddaf, with 20 stations. It serves Deira and Bur Dubai, including the Gold Souq and Al Ras, and interchanges with the Red Line at Union and BurJuman. It also reaches three intercity bus terminals, which makes it the useful line for onward travel.
- Note that Etisalat station is now branded e&.
- Change at Union or BurJuman for the Red Line.
- Use Al Ghubaiba, Union or e& for intercity buses.
The Green Line at a glance
Where the Red Line follows Sheikh Zayed Road through the modern city, the Green Line covers the historic districts either side of Dubai Creek. It is shorter, denser and generally more useful for sightseeing than for commuting.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Stations | 20 in total |
| Length | 22.5 kilometres |
| Northern end | e& station, formerly Etisalat, in Al Qusais |
| Southern end | Creek, in Al Jaddaf |
| Elevated stations | 12 |
| Underground stations | 8 |
| Red Line interchanges | Union and BurJuman |
The eight underground stations are concentrated in the dense old city around Deira and Bur Dubai, where there is no room for an elevated viaduct. That is also the stretch most visitors want, so much of a Green Line trip is spent below ground.
All 20 Green Line stations
The line is short enough to list in full, running north to south from e& to Creek.
| Order | Station | Area |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | e& (Etisalat) | Al Qusais |
| 2 | Al Qusais | Al Qusais |
| 3 | Dubai Airport Free Zone | Free zone |
| 4 | Al Nahda | Al Nahda |
| 5 | Stadium | Al Qusais |
| 6 | Al Qiyadah | Deira |
| 7 | Abu Hail | Deira |
| 8 | Abu Baker Al Siddique | Deira |
| 9 | Salah Al Din | Deira |
| 10 | Union | Deira, Red Line interchange |
| 11 | Baniyas Square | Deira |
| 12 | Gold Souq | Deira |
| 13 | Al Ras | Deira, by the creek |
| 14 | Al Ghubaiba | Bur Dubai |
| 15 | Sharaf DG | Bur Dubai |
| 16 | BurJuman | Bur Dubai, Red Line interchange |
| 17 | Oud Metha | Oud Metha |
| 18 | Dubai Healthcare City | Healthcare City |
| 19 | Al Jadaf | Al Jaddaf |
| 20 | Creek | Al Jaddaf |
One naming point that trips people up: the northern terminus was Etisalat and is now branded e& following the telecom company’s rebrand. Older maps, signs and guides still show the old name, so treat the two as the same station.
The stations worth knowing
A handful of these stations do most of the work for visitors and for anyone connecting onward.
| Station | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Gold Souq | The gold and spice souqs in Deira |
| Al Ras | The creek, abra crossings and old Deira |
| Al Ghubaiba | Bur Dubai, abras, and a major intercity bus terminal |
| Union | Red Line interchange and intercity bus hub |
| BurJuman | Red Line interchange and shopping |
| Dubai Healthcare City | Hospitals and clinics |
Because the line is short and the stations are closely spaced, an end to end run from e& to Creek is a modest trip rather than a cross city expedition. That density is the point: on the Red Line stations can be a kilometre or more apart, whereas here you are rarely far from one, which suits the tight street layout of Deira and Bur Dubai where walking between attractions is normal.
Al Ras and Al Ghubaiba sit on opposite banks of the creek, which is why a classic Dubai itinerary is to ride to Al Ras, walk the souqs, cross by abra, and pick the metro back up at Al Ghubaiba. The Green Line is genuinely the sightseeing line.
Connecting to intercity buses
This is the Green Line’s underrated advantage. It reaches three of the terminals that intercity coaches leave from, so you can get from the metro to another emirate without a taxi.
| Station | Intercity services from there |
|---|---|
| Al Ghubaiba | E100 to Abu Dhabi, E201 to Al Ain, E306 to Sharjah |
| Union | E400 to Ajman, E303 to Sharjah, and RAKTA buses to Ras Al Khaimah |
| e& (Etisalat) | E411 to Ajman, E315 to Sharjah and E700 to Fujairah |
That makes the Green Line the practical starting point for most intercity journeys. Riding out to e& and taking the E411 to Ajman, for example, is considerably faster than boarding the E400 in central Deira, as explained in our Dubai to Ajman bus timings guide. The full network is in our UAE bus timings guide.
Timings and fares
The Green Line keeps exactly the same hours as the Red Line, including the later Sunday start.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday and Saturday | 05:00 to midnight |
| Friday | 05:00 to 01:00 |
| Sunday | 08:00 to midnight |
| Fares | AED 3 to AED 7.50 by zone |
| Payment | Nol card, the same as the Red Line |
Because the Green Line is short, most journeys on it fall within one or two zones, so you will usually pay at the lower end of the fare range. Full details are in our Dubai Metro timings guide, and the other line is covered in our Dubai Metro Red Line guide.
Frequently asked questions
How many stations are on the Green Line?
Twenty stations across 22.5 kilometres, running from e& in Al Qusais to Creek in Al Jaddaf. Twelve are elevated and eight are underground, with the underground section concentrated in the dense old city.
What happened to Etisalat metro station?
It was rebranded to e& following the telecom company’s name change, and it is still the northern terminus of the Green Line. Older maps and guides show the Etisalat name, but it is the same station in the same place.
Which metro station is closest to the Gold Souq?
Gold Souq station on the Green Line, in Deira. Al Ras, the next station along, is also close and puts you right by the creek and the abra crossings, which is the usual way to continue to Bur Dubai.
