Sharjah to Ajman Bus Timings: Routes 112 and 114
Two SRTA routes run between Sharjah and Ajman: bus 112 from Al Jubail Station and bus 114 from East Street. The fare is AED 6 one way, the cheapest intercity bus journey in the UAE. Buses start around 06:00 and run to about 23:45, with the 114 every 15 minutes and the 112 every 30. Allow well over an hour, as this corridor is heavily congested.
- Take the 114 for frequency, the 112 for the Al Jubail terminal.
- Carry AED 6 for the fare, this is an SRTA service.
- Allow far longer than the distance suggests.
The Sharjah to Ajman bus at a glance
Sharjah and Ajman sit directly against each other, and the built-up areas run together with no real gap between them. That makes this the shortest intercity hop in the country by distance, and by far the cheapest.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Routes | 112 and 114 |
| Operator | SRTA, the Sharjah transport authority |
| Fare | AED 6 one way, on both routes |
| Service hours | About 06:00 to 23:45 |
| Frequency | Every 15 minutes on the 114, every 30 on the 112 |
| Commonly quoted journey time | Around 2 hours |
At AED 6, this costs less than half the Dubai to Sharjah fare and roughly a fifth of the Dubai to Abu Dhabi fare. These are local city buses rather than intercity coaches, which is why the price is so low.
Routes 112 and 114 compared
The two routes serve different parts of both cities, so the right one depends on where you are starting and where you are going in Ajman.
| Feature | Route 112 | Route 114 |
|---|---|---|
| Sharjah start | Al Jubail Station | East Street |
| Ajman destination | Nesto Supermarket area | City Centre, Chinese Market, Ambassador Centre |
| Frequency | Every 30 minutes | Every 15 minutes |
| First bus | About 06:00 | About 06:35 |
| Best for | Connecting from intercity services at Al Jubail | Ajman city centre and shopping |
The 112 is the one to take if you are arriving in Sharjah on an intercity bus, since Al Jubail is the main terminal where the Dubai routes and the Abu Dhabi 117 also stop. That makes it the natural connection for a longer journey.
The 114 wins on frequency, running twice as often, and its Ajman stops are better placed for shopping and the city centre. If you are already in Sharjah and heading into Ajman proper, it is usually the better choice.
Sharjah to Ajman bus timings
Both routes are daytime and evening services, starting later than the long-distance intercity buses and running until close to midnight.
| Route | From | First bus | Last bus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 112 | Al Jubail Station | About 06:00 | About 23:45 |
| 114 | East Street | About 06:35 | Late evening |
A 06:00 start is late compared with the Sharjah to Abu Dhabi 117, which runs from 03:45. If you need to be in Ajman before about 07:30, the bus will not get you there, and that is worth knowing before you plan an early shift around it.
Ajman to Sharjah bus timings
The return journey uses the same route numbers, running back from the Ajman stops to Al Jubail and East Street respectively.
| Route | From Ajman | To Sharjah | Pattern |
|---|---|---|---|
| 112 | Nesto Supermarket area | Al Jubail Station | Roughly every 30 minutes through the day |
| 114 | City Centre and Ambassador Centre stops | East Street | Roughly every 15 minutes through the day |
Because these are frequent local services rather than scheduled coaches, the return is far more forgiving than on the long intercity routes. Missing a 114 costs you 15 minutes rather than an hour, so this is one of the few UAE bus journeys you can genuinely turn up for.
SRTA publishes less schedule detail than RTA, so these are indicative windows. Sharjah runs its own journey planner and travel card separately from Dubai’s Nol system.
Fare and onboard facilities
At AED 6 this is the cheapest journey between two emirates anywhere in the UAE, and the buses are better equipped than the price suggests.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Single journey | AED 6, on both routes |
| Return | AED 12 in total |
| Versus Dubai to Sharjah | AED 4 cheaper |
| Air conditioning | Yes, throughout |
| Dedicated sections | Ladies, People of Determination, and families |
The separate seating sections for ladies, People of Determination and families are standard on these services, which makes them comfortable for a wider range of passengers than the price would suggest. Because this is an SRTA route rather than an RTA one, do not assume Nol is the payment method here. The wider fare picture is in our UAE bus timings guide.
Why the journey takes so long?
The commonly quoted journey time of around two hours looks wrong for two cities that share a border, and it deserves an explanation rather than a straight repetition.
These are local stopping buses, not express coaches. They pick up along the way rather than running directly, and the Sharjah to Ajman corridor carries some of the heaviest traffic in the country, particularly at peak times. Between the number of stops and the congestion, a journey that would take 20 minutes in clear conditions stretches out considerably.
In practice your journey will vary a great deal with the time of day. Travelling outside the morning and evening peaks makes a substantial difference on this route, more so than on any other intercity pair. If you are driving instead, our UAE traffic, vehicle and fines guide covers fines and vehicle checks across the emirates.
