DEWA Bill Check and Payment Without Login

You can check a DEWA bill without logging in by entering the contract account number or the premise number on DEWA’s View Bill page. To pay without logging in, use DEWA’s website or smart app with the contract account number, which also lets you pay a friend’s or relative’s bill in full or in part. Payments show on the account straight away, and if your supply was cut for non-payment, DEWA reconnects it within 4 hours of payment. DEWA’s customer care line is 04 601 9999.

Quick route
  1. Find your contract account number on the bill or DEWA’s welcome email.
  2. Check the bill on DEWA’s View Bill page with that number.
  3. Pay only through DEWA’s own channels listed below.

DEWA bill check at a glance

DEWA, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, bills every Dubai home monthly. The bill covers more than electricity and water: it also collects fees for Dubai Municipality and, in some buildings, district cooling. Knowing which number to use is most of the battle.

Task Login needed What you need
View a bill No Contract account number or premise number
Pay a bill No Contract account number
Pay someone else’s bill No Their contract account number
See 13 months of history Yes A DEWA account, through the Smart Living dashboard
Set up automatic payment Yes A DEWA account and a card

For a one-off payment, or for paying for a family member, the no-login route is quicker. For your own home, setting up an account is worth it for the consumption history alone.

Finding your account and premise numbers

DEWA uses two different numbers, and they are not interchangeable everywhere.

Number What it identifies Where to find it
Contract account number Your account with DEWA Your bill, and DEWA’s welcome email and SMS after your Ejari is issued
Premise number The property itself, nine digits Displayed on the door of each premises, and on your bill

If you have neither, DEWA’s Display Premise Number service can find the premise number using details such as your Emirates ID number, Makani number, meter number, plot number or contract account number. It works on DEWA’s website and app.

How to check your bill without logging in

  1. Open the View Bill page on dewa.gov.ae, under Consumer and Billing.
  2. Enter the contract account number or the premise number.
  3. Select Enquire to see the latest bill.

When the bill opens, it helps to know what you are looking at. DEWA’s own charges are electricity and water, each priced on a slab tariff, plus a monthly fuel surcharge and a small meter service charge, with 5% VAT on top. Then come the amounts DEWA collects for others: Dubai Municipality’s housing fee and sewerage charge, and in some communities irrigation and district cooling charges for providers such as Empower or Nakheel. The municipality fees carry no VAT. Our DEWA tariff guide breaks down the rates, and our Dubai housing fee guide explains that line of the bill.

You can also ask Rammas, DEWA’s virtual employee, which is available on DEWA’s website, its smart app and WhatsApp. If the amount looks wrong, our guide to why a DEWA bill is high explains the most common causes and how to check them.

Every way to pay a DEWA bill

DEWA lists a wide range of payment channels. Use one of these, since DEWA says it is not responsible for payments made through channels it does not list.

Channel Notes
DEWA website and smart app Pay your own or a friend’s bill, by card, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or bank
Auto Pay Automatic monthly payment from a card
Dubai Now and Empay apps Government and payment apps, Dubai Now for individuals
e& payment machines and e& money app Cash at machines, or the wallet app
ENOC and EPPCO stations At the cashier or a smart kiosk
Emirates NBD and Emirates Islamic deposit machines Cash, and cheques at Emirates NBD machines
Banks Through your bank’s own bill payment service
Tayseer DEWA’s service for paying several accounts at once

Paying someone else’s bill is a standard feature. DEWA confirms you can pay a friend’s or relative’s bill partially or in full, using only their contract account number.

Cards, limits and wallets

Payment type Accepted Limit per payment on DEWA’s site and app
Credit card All international cards Up to AED 750,000
Debit card GCC-issued cards Up to AED 750,000
Apple Pay and Samsung Pay With GCC-issued cards Up to AED 500,000

The debit card rule matters for new arrivals paying with a card from home. A foreign credit card will work, a foreign debit card may not.

Late bills, disconnection and overpayments

  • Disconnected for non-payment: DEWA reconnects supply within 4 hours after the bill is paid.
  • Overpaid: the extra stays as credit and is set against your next bills automatically.
  • Underpaid: the shortfall is carried into the next bill, and the supply can still be disconnected.
  • Travelling: you can pay in advance before leaving, or pay online from anywhere.

Be wary of anyone offering to settle a DEWA bill for you at a discount, or sending a payment link you did not request. DEWA warns that an unofficial party claiming to represent it is probably fraudulent. For the full picture on Dubai home costs, see our DEWA tariff guide and our UAE bills guide.
